This privacy statement tells our clients how we deal with privacy issues in providing our legal services.
Collection of Personal Information
In providing legal services to you, Flower and Hart will usually obtain personal information about you, including your name, address and contact details.
Usually we collect personal information:
- directly from you, either from documentation you provide to us or during meetings or telephone conversations; and
- searches of databases maintained by various government agencies.
We may also collect personal information about you from third parties such as your bank or accountant. We will not collect personal information from third parties without your knowledge.
Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
We may use or disclose your personal information:
- in providing legal services to you (e.g. in the course of conducting searches we may provide some of your personal information to various government departments; we sometimes use personal information to prepare documents that will enter the public domain, such as Court, ASIC or Titles Office documents).
- to contact you to discuss our services generally, or in response to a query or feedback from you.
- to forward Flower and Hart direct marketing material such as newsletters, bulletins and seminar invitations. (You can opt out of receiving marketing material. Flower and Hart does not rent, sell or lease its client lists to third parties.)
- to carry out administrative functions associated with the provision of our services, such as processing accounts and collection of payments.
Flower and Hart will not otherwise give, sell, trade or disclose any of your personal information to a third party unless:
- you have provided us with your consent; or
- you are required to do so by law.
Main Consequence of Failing to Provide Personal Information
We may not be able to provide you with complete or adequate service if you choose not to provide us with the personal information we need.
Access and Correction
You can ask us for access to your personal information. You can also ask us to correct or update your personal information.
